From 1 May 2009, IELTS are making a small but important change to the General Training Reading paper.

Currently, Section 2 of the General Training Reading paper focuses on the training context. From 1 May 2009, this section will focus on the work context (e.g. applying for jobs, company policies, pay and conditions, workplace facilities, staff development etc).

The other sections of the General Training Reading paper will remain unchanged.

I’m a class 12 student from India. I’m planning to do my college in Australia. I’m going for Engineering in Queensland to be precise. But I don’t know which college I should join. Which is the best? List of Engineering Colleges in Australia

I’m freaking out because I don’t know the procedures. What should I do??

1) I don’t know which course I should take. Mechanical OR Mechatronics Engineering? Is Mechatronic Engineering better than mechanical?
Mechatronics gives me more options as to field of career. But its a new field of study, I think I might run the risk of it being a fleeting focus for the companies that I will seek for job. Mechanical engineering is a time tested focus in which employers are familiar and comfortable with. So I am confused.

3) Language Tests – I am going to write IELTS. OR Should I write TOEFL instead?

4a) ACT and SAT. Which one should I write? What’s the difference between the two? Will the SAT/ACT scores be accepted in the colleges? If so specify the colleges. Is it compulsory to write either SAT or ACT? Will I get any scholarship aid/fee reduction if I score well in SAT?

4b) Besides SAT/ACT is there any way to reduce fee, any other scholarship programs by the colleges itself?

5) I want take an MBA degree after my engineering course. Any good colleges offering MBA courses in Australia?

6) JOB OPPERTUNITIES IN AUSTRALIA ???

Question: Should I take TOEFL or IELTS?
I want to apply as an undergraduate student to USA, Australia and the UK and want to take either TOEFL or IELTS and not sure which one (don’t want to waste my time/money doing both). Which one should I take that is preferred by all countries in general?

TOEFL is most widely accepted in the US.
IELTS is most widely accepted in the UK.
Both are widely accepted in Australia.

That being said, it doesn’t depend on which Country you want to study in. It depends more on the university you want to go to. Some schools only accept TOEFL scores and others only accept IETLS scores. Universities in Australia generally accept both. Each University in Australia have their own score requirements so you will need to check the admission requirements of each before applying. A good plan would be to narrow your search of which universities you prefer to study at prior to registering for either TOEFL or IELTS.

I have planned to study in Australia. I came to know that one should have taken the IELTS exam before going to Australia. I have a doubt regarding this: Is there a separate IELTS for U.K. and Australia or is the test same for immigrating in to any of these countries. Will you give me some tips on how to crack this test?
