Qst: Studying Abroad In Australia?
I’m a class 12 student from India. I’m planning to do my college in Australia. I’m going for Engineering in Queensland to be precise. But I don’t know which college I should join. Which is the best? List of Engineering Colleges in Australia
I’m freaking out because I don’t know the procedures. What should I do??
1) I don’t know which course I should take. Mechanical OR Mechatronics Engineering? Is Mechatronic Engineering better than mechanical?
Mechatronics gives me more options as to field of career. But its a new field of study, I think I might run the risk of it being a fleeting focus for the companies that I will seek for job. Mechanical engineering is a time tested focus in which employers are familiar and comfortable with. So I am confused.3) Language Tests - I am going to write IELTS. OR Should I write TOEFL instead?
4a) ACT and SAT. Which one should I write? What’s the difference between the two? Will the SAT/ACT scores be accepted in the colleges? If so specify the colleges. Is it compulsory to write either SAT or ACT? Will I get any scholarship aid/fee reduction if I score well in SAT?
4b) Besides SAT/ACT is there any way to reduce fee, any other scholarship programs by the colleges itself?
5) I want take an MBA degree after my engineering course. Any good colleges offering MBA courses in Australia?
6) JOB OPPERTUNITIES IN AUSTRALIA ???

I don’t know which engineering you should take, I think either would be very useful. In Australia mining engineering is much in demand, but engineers in all fields are finding employment easily I believe.
There are plenty of good MBA courses also. I did one through the University of Southern Queensland by distance education - you don’t need to physically attend at all, it can all be done from home. Or you can attend campus in Toowoomba if you prefer.
I’m sorry, your other questions I can’t help you with.
G’day,
Unfortunately the information fruitsalad given is only applicable for Australian students, not international student.
There are only 42 universities in Australia, all of them are fully accredited and they are tightly controlled, therefore the quality and recognition of their graduates are equal from wherever university you are studying from. The most important thing is you have to READ the course information carefully, since some courses may have the same name but different content.
To find out the course that you are taking and where it is offered, I suggest you to go to and online databases. Write down the uni’s website and visit them, especially the international students area, where you can get info abt the course offered for int. students, requirements and fees. Once decided on the uni, fill in the application form and send it together with certified copy of your academic qualification (in English and original language). The process will take abt 2-3weeks, depending on the time of the year. In the meantime, you can also start taking IELTS test (a must for application to Australia, as IELTS is required to apply for student visa later).
Now… your questions:
1. What do you really like? Mechanical or Electronics & Mechanical? As long as you got good grades & the right kind of campus activities, Australian companies will be more likely to hire you.
3. IELTS for Australia (www.ielts.org)
4. Not required for Australian uni application. For scholarship, check the uni directly or visit.
5. Most MBA courses will require work experience. However you will find out more when you are abt to finish your course. Most uni do offer MBA programs and b’cos all universities have the same accreditation and recognition, you dun have to worry abt which uni you are going to.
6. Job after graduated or during study? FYI, during study, you can only work max 20hrs/week during semester study period, and full-time ONLY during semester break period.
Hope this helps. Good luck on your studies :)
