All international students are required to provide evidence of satisfying the University’s English language requirements.

Requirements from IELTS and TOEFL

Minimum English language requirements for all courses:

IELTS (Academic) –

Overall score of 6.0 plus the following band scores:
6.0 in reading and writing;and,
5.0 in listening and speaking.
[Transnational Crime Prevention and Maritime Policy/Studies programs require:
Overall: 6.0, Reading and Writing: 6.0 and Listening and Speaking: 5.5]

TOEFL -

550 (Paper) or 213 (Computer) with a 4.0 TWE/Essay Rating; or
79 (Internet-based) with not less than:
- 20 in Writing
- 18 in Reading
- 17 in Listening and
- 16 in Speaking.

Minimum English language requirements for Arts, Commerce, Business, Health, and Education courses:

IELTS (Academic) –

Overall score of 6.5 plus the following band scores:
6.0 in reading, writing, listening and speaking

TOEFL

575 (Paper) or 231 (Computer) with a 4.5 TWE/Essay Rating; or
88 (Internet-based) with not less than:
- 22 in Writing
- 20 in Reading
- 17 in Listening and
- 18 in Speaking.

Minimum English language requirements for Education, Journalism and Law courses:

IELTS (Academic) –

Overall score of 7.0 plus the following band scores:
7.0 in writing;
6.5 in reading;
6.0 in listening and speaking
* Graduate School of Medicine’s English Language requirements are a minimum of 7.0 in all IELTS scores

TOEFL

600 (Paper) or 250 (Computer) with a 5.0 TWE/Essay Rating; or
100 (Internet-based) with not less than
- 22 in Writing and
- 20 in Reading, Listening and Speaking.
