Bachelor of Nursing Science – Graduate Entry Program – External
James Cook University – Bachelor of Nursing Science – Graduate Entry Program – External
Description:
A new pathway into the Bachelor of Nursing Science is available to graduates of approved courses.
The graduate entry program is available to candidates with a prior degree in a relevant science or health science area (as determined by the Head of School of Nursing, Midwifery and Nutrition). A new subject, NS1911:03 Foundational Nursing Studies and Practice, will be offered in January/February (Study Period 3) as a two-week laboratory/tutorial block at Townsville campus, followed by two weeks of experience in a medical unit under supervision of an experienced clinician. Students will then enter the second year of the Bachelor of Nursing Science course, commencing in late February.
JCU’s Bachelor of Nursing Science focuses on the theoretical and applied dimensions of human caring. Theoretical modules are linked with practical experience. Clinical experience incorporates supervised clinical practice in a variety of hospital, health agency and community settings throughout northern Queensland, beginning in first year. Graduates develop a wide range of skills to assist individuals and families in their experience of health and wellbeing.
The course also emphasises nursing for rural, remote and Indigenous communities, plus tropical health issues.
